Using Facebook is one of the best ways to build your business. But, how can you know if what you’re putting out there is resonating with your ideal clients? You might have seen different metrics like comments, follows, shares, likes, and reach. But do you actually know what they mean?

Let’s take a look at these common Facebook metrics and how they can help you build your business online.

#1 Likes:

This is pretty easy, this is the amount of people who hit the “like” button on your post. Why is this important? Facebook is a business just like any other, and they want to keep their users happy. If a post is getting a lot of likes (especially right after it’s posted), Facebook assumes that this is a good post to show to a lot of people. This is a great way to keep your followers engaged.

#2  Comments:

Comments are pretty similar to likes, but they have a little more power. Lots of comments on a post is a guarantee that more people will see it and engage!

#3 Shares:

This is one of the best things for your business, believe it or not! When someone shares your post, it will then be shown to friends of that person- who might not be aware of your brand or page! When your post is shared, you’re getting access to a whole new set of potential clients and customers.

#4 Reach:

Reach is a little more tricky to understand, but a great tool to see how you’re doing. Your Page Reach will show you how many people have been exposed to your page in a given amount of time. The Post Reach shows how many people saw your post, whether they commented, liked, shared, or not.

A great tip is to take a look at your posts from the last month. Make a note of which posts had lots of likes, comments, and shares. What was the post about? Why was it so engaging? You can use this information to create new posts that will similarly get attention. It’s also great to take a look at which posts didn’t perform well. Take note on how you could improve these numbers in the future.
